Residence Permission
Persons at 18 are legally eligible to submit application for
Residence Permission; but people under 18 need legal consent of parents
or trustee.
The Residence Permission is granted to a foreign person who intends to
stay in Georgia for more than 90 days.
The grounds for the Permission could be the following:
a) Legal labor activity including free profession;
b) Education or medical treatment;
c) Invitation by the Government if one is highly-skilled expert or
cultural worker and is vital for state interests;
d) Trustee of a citizen of Georgia;
e) Trusteeship of a citizen of Georgia;
f) Spouse, parent, child, grandchild, adopter, adoptee, sister, brother,
grandmother or grandfather of citizen or resident of Georgia.
Necessary documents
1. Legal labor activity including free profession
a) Copy of passport or travel document;
b) Copy of official permission of stay in Georgia, if applicant is in
Georgia at the moment of submission (Georgian visa or other document);
c) Proof of labor activity in Georgia (labor contract or other similar
document); persons of free profession must submit bank account details
at least for one year;
d) Proof of legal revenue;
e) State due receipt;
f) 2 photos 3*4.
2. Education or medical treatment
a) Copy of passport or travel document;
b) Copy of official permission of stay in Georgia, if applicant is in
Georgia at the moment of submission (Georgian visa or other document);
c) Reference from Georgian medical institution proving necessity of
treatment or official invitation from educational institution or proof
of continuation of education (the dates of treatment or education must
be indicated in the documents);
d) Proof of legal revenue;
e) State due receipt;
f) 2 photos 3*4.
3. Invitation by the Government if one is highly-skilled expert or
cultural worker and is vital for state interests
a) Copy of passport or travel document;
b) Copy of official permission of stay in Georgia, if applicant is in
Georgia at the moment of submission (Georgian visa or other document);
c) Official invitation of an appropriate Government agency;
d) Proof of legal revenue;
e) State due receipt;
f) 2 photos 3*4.
4. Trustee of a citizen of Georgia or Trusteeship of a citizen of
Georgia
a) Copy of passport or travel document;
b) Copy of official permission of stay in Georgia, if applicant is in
Georgia at the moment of submission (Georgian visa or other document);
c) Official proof of trusteeship;
d) Proof of legal revenue;
e) State due receipt;
f) 2 photos 3*4.
5. Spouse, parent, child, grandchild, adopter, adoptee, sister,
brother, grandmother or grandfather of citizen or resident of Georgia
a) Copy of passport or travel document;
b) Copy of official permission of stay in Georgia, if applicant is in
Georgia at the moment of submission (Georgian visa or other document);
c) Proof of sibling connection (birth or marriage certificates,
affiliation, adoption or other documents), and roof of residence of
citizenship of Georgia of appropriate person;
d) Proof of legal revenue;
e) State due receipt;
f) 2 photos 3*4.
• After submission of necessary documents an applicant must apply to the
Civil Issues Department of the Ministry of Justice;
• Foreign documents must be submitted in Georgian translation and
certified by a notary;
• The MOJ must answer an application after 30 days from submission of
necessary documents;
• The state due for the permission is GEL 180, an account details:
200122900, code 300033080 – residence permission.
