In 1994 Georgia became a State
Party to the 1989
UN Convention on the
Rights of the Child. On the basis of the said Convention
Georgia took obligation to submit to the Committee in
every 5 years periodic reports on the situation
of protection of the rights of the child.
On the 48-th session of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the
Child was discussed the 3-rd periodic report of Georgia on the basis of
which the Committee elaborated respective
recommendations.
Department of
Public International Law of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia is the
Central authority which also co-ordinates the proper implementation of the Hague
1980 Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction. For
this purpose the Department organizes special seminars and trainings for
judges, bailiffs and other governmental organizations also it provides with
relevant literature and information. The Department of Public International
Law of the Ministry of Justice has created this link to provide guidance and
assistance when a child is abducted across international borders.
